Confronting Anti-Minority Populism: A Roundtable Debate as a Follow-up to the Seminar for Leaders of PES Parties in Central Europe

April 22nd, 2015

Non-public event, Brussels

The Roundtable Debate in Brussels was the concluding event of the European Values Think-Tank and the Foundation for European Progressive Studies (FEPS) common project “Defining Responses to Rise of Extremism in Europe” . During the debate lessons learned from the project’s public events and closed consultations with PES politicians from Central European countries were summarized. The objective was to help them realize that it is highly important to know how to tackle the issues of minorities and how to introduce them to the wider public. During the debate participants were discussing and analysing public attitudes towards minorities in Central and Western Europe with a special focus on the situation after the Charlie Hebdo attacks.
