What to expect from the second Trump administration – recommendations for the Czech Republic

The re-election of Donald Trump to the White House brings significant changes to both domestic and foreign policies of the United States, which will have a substantial implications on the security of its European allies, including the Czech Republic. This primarily involves increasing and gradual shift of the U.S. resources and involvement towards the Indo-Pacific region, most likely reduced support for Ukraine in its war effort with Russia, and increased pressure on European allies to take greater responsibility for security on the continent. The new U.S. administration will also urge European countries to fully recognize the increasingly complex and geopolitically intertwined relationship between the prosperity and security of the Euro-Atlantic and Indo-Pacific theaters, including the security implications stemming from this new international environment. Such  changes thus carry significant economic and security-political implications also for the Czech Republic, which will have to be responsibly addressed in the coming months and years. This report written by the European Values Center for Security Policy addresses the security issues associated with the incoming second Trump administration and proposes several key recommendations aimed at bolstering the security of the Czech Republic within the European continent in light of new security threats and challenges, as well as the dramatically changing international security environment.
