EVC Taiwan Office Head Marcin Jerzewski was invited to speak at this year’s edition of the Warsaw Security Forum, one of Central Europe’s most impactful security policy conferences. During the session titled “Understanding the Playing Field: Principles for China’s Global Strategy,” Jerzewski analyzed CCP’s objective of “Advancing Towards The Center of The World Stage” (走近世界舞台中央) as the critical outward-facing tenet of China’s quest for “great rejuvenation” (中华民族伟大复兴). Additionally, he also commented on what threats associated with Beijing’s revisionism vis-à-vis Taiwan should be more pronounced in the European debate on China.
The discussion was moderated by Dr. Alicja Bachulska, China expert and Policy Fellow at the Warsaw Office of the European Council on Foreign Relations. Other speakers included Reinhard Bütikofer, Senior Fellow at the Center for European Policy Analysis and Former Member of the European Parliament; Dr. Janka Oertel, Director of the Asia Program and a Senior Policy Fellow at the European Council on Foreign Relations; and James Jay Carafano, Senior Counselor to the President and E.W. Richardson Fellow at The Heritage Foundation.
