On November 7, 2024, European Values Center Taiwan Office Head Marcin Jerzewski spoke at the seminar titled “The Result of the US Presidential Elections and the Foreign Policy Direction of the New Administration” (美國大選結果與新政府對外政策走向) organized by the Institute for National Policy Research (INPR), a Taipei-based think tank. This Mandarin-language event platformed perspectives of leading policy scholars from Taiwan, the United States, and the European Union.
Jerzewski’s intervention, titled “Keywording “Burden Sharing”: The Impact of 2024 U.S. Presidential Elections on European Security and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization,” focused on the potential impact of Donald J. Trump’s victory on collective security in the Euro-Atlantic theater. To this end, the Taiwan Office Head put forward three policy recommendations for European NATO allies: bolstering coordination in terms of procurement and defense modernization, building up the European defense industrial base, and recognizing China as a threat actor while increasing transatlantic coordination of the European Indo-Pacific policy.
In September 2024, EVC had the pleasure of hosting Dr. Hung-jen Wang, INPR Chief Executive Officer, as a speaker at our 10th European Values Summit. Click here to read the event summary.
