On Monday, 9 January 2023, a round table entitled “Erosion of the Freedom of Information in Hungary” took place in the Chamber of Deputies. The programme and the speakers were introduced by Olga Richterová, Deputy Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies (Piráti), who organised the event together with the European Values Center for Security Policy.
The opening speeches were also made by the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies Markéta Pekarová Adamová (TOP 09) and Minister of Foreign Affairs Jan Lipavský (Piráti). Sociologist Václav Štětka then spoke about freedom and pluralism of the media. He was followed by representatives of the Hungarian media Pablo Gorondi, Szabolcs Panyi, Karin Köváry Sólymos and Márk Finta, who described their personal experiences and real practice, including legislative changes in the functioning of the media in Hungary.
