EVC Experts Contribute to the Seminar on China and the Global South: Beijing’s Strategic Thinking and Its Influences

On October 16, 2025, EVC Taiwan Office Head Marcin Jerzewski and Global Advisory Board Member Matej Šimalčík participated in the Seminar on China and the Global South: Beijing’s Strategic Thinking and Its Influences, hosted by the Advanced Research Center of Humanities and Social Sciences, National Chung Hsing University in Taichung, Taiwan.
 
Jerzewski contributed to the panel titled, “From South-South to Global South: What’s Different?” In his intervention, he compared two infrastructure development initiatives – the People’s Republic of China’s Belt and Road Initiative and the European Union’s Global Gateway initiative – focusing on specific case studies from Vietnam and Fiji. Meanwhile, Šimalčík’s presentation “EU-Taiwan Relations in a Volatile World: Trump 2.0, China-US Competition, and the Shifting Global Security” was featured on the panel titled, “US-China Relations in the Trump Second-Term Era.”
