Richard Kraemer

Richard Kraemer is co-founder and board president of the US-Europe Alliance, where he works to inspire Americans to advocate for a robust and democratic transatlantic community. He currently lectures in the management Faculty at the American University – Kyiv. He is a non-resident senior fellow at the European Values Center for Security Policy in Prague, Czech Republic. His publications focus on malign foreign interventions by Russia and China, as well as identifying their proxies, throughout Central-Eastern and Southeastern Europe.
Previously, Richard managed the National Endowment for Democracy’s program portfolio for Afghanistan, Iran and Turkey. Richard had further supervised projects in the Levant, as well as in those three countries, at the Center for International Private Enterprise. Living in Kabul for two years, he helped establish Afghanistan’s first independent chamber of commerce.
Richard also taught law and researched at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland. He is an affiliated expert of the Public International Law and Policy Group, where he advised the governments of Georgia and Montenegro. Prior to his engagement in Europe and the Middle East, Richard co-directed Art Monk Construction Records and Lumberjack CD & Vinyl Distribution.
Richard’s works and analysis have appeared in numerous international and U.S. media including Newsweek, Washington Post, New York Times, The Guardian, Al Jazeera, Agence-France Presse, El Pais, Voice of America, Radio Free Europe and Wiener Zeitung. A member of the New York State Bar Association, Richard holds a JD from American University and a BA from the College of William & Mary. He is professionally proficient in Polish, Farsi, and Dari; functioning Russian.
