Alternatively, Tripod Technology recently <a href=\"https:\/\/mekongasean.vn\/viet-nam-la-diem-den-dau-tu-hang-dau-thu-hut-cac-doanh-nghiep-dai-loan-32439.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">invested $250 million<\/a> in Vietnam\u2019s southern province of Ba Ria &#8211; Vung Tau.<\/p><h2>\u00a0<\/h2><h2>What is the broader picture?<\/h2><p>Many large Taiwanese technology firms have been diversifying their global presence, with many moving to Vietnam due to the ongoing trade tensions between the United States and China. These businesses have sought to <a href=\"https:\/\/diendandoanhnghiep.vn\/ly-do-viet-nam-tro-thanh-diem-den-hap-dan-voi-cac-nha-dau-tu-dai-loan-10140717.html#:~:text=Theo%20V\u0103n%20ph\u00f2ng%20Kinh%20t\u1ebf,c\u1ee7a%20\u0110\u00e0i%20Loan%2C%20sau%20Singapore.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">capitalize<\/a> on Vietnam\u2019s youthful and cheap labor pool and its open-door policy and stable political climate \u2013 which are advantageous to Taiwanese companies.<\/p><p>Vietnam has emerged as a premier investment destination, drawing enterprises from Taiwan. In the initial six months of this year, Vietnam <a href=\"https:\/\/industrial.savills.com.vn\/2024\/07\/xu-huong-dau-tu-san-xuat-cua-dai-loan-tai-viet-nam-trong-nua-dau-nam-2024\/?lang=vi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">secured<\/a> registered foreign direct investment (FDI) amounting to 15.18 billion USD, reflecting a 13% increase compared to last year. The manufacturing sector accounted for 70%, with a total registered capital of 10.68 billion USD, reflecting a 26% increase compared to the same period. But in recent years, Taiwan\u2019s high-tech industries have grown in the country, thanks to the Vietnamese government\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/english.vov.vn\/en\/economy\/taiwanese-investment-fuels-high-tech-vietnamese-industry-post1114534.vov\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">preferential policies<\/a>\u00a0and open-minded stance.<\/p><p>With a population of 100 million, Vietnam actively <a href=\"https:\/\/plo.vn\/doanh-nghiep-cong-nghe-dai-loan-muon-mo-rong-dau-tu-o-viet-nam-post805029.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">encourages<\/a> green transformation across various industries. This opens up several prospects for Vietnamese citizens to utilize tech products from Taiwanese technology-focused businesses.<\/p><h2>\u00a0<\/h2><h2>Why does it matter?<\/h2><p>Taiwan has become the primary source of foreign investment in Vietnam during the first 20 years following Hanoi\u2019s implementation of the economic reform program (<em>\u0110\u1ed5i M\u1edbi<\/em> in Vietnamese). Taiwan\u2019s engagement helps boost Vietnam\u2019s socio-economic development and creates many jobs for local employees.<\/p><p>Taiwan\u2019s FDI inflows to Vietnam have continued to grow steadily. As a target country of Taiwan\u2019s New Southbound Policy (NSP), launched in 2016 to enhance the island\u2019s cooperation with partners in the South, Vietnam has received significant investments from Taiwan. In general, Taiwan\u2019s high-tech investments could benefit Vietnam, which views high-tech cooperation as leverage for achieving its goal of becoming \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/vir.com.vn\/taiwanese-interest-in-electronics-continues-to-surge-113092.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a semiconductor hub<\/a>.\u201d<\/p><p>Vietnam\u2019s advantage of securing a young, increasingly skilled workforce and a relatively stable business environment has helped <a href=\"https:\/\/thuenhanuoc.vn\/tapchi\/chuyen-muc\/doanh-nghiep-thi-truong\/ee5a4651-49cb-429c-99e8-92e0c7267cda\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">enhance<\/a> the country\u2019s reputation in the eyes of Taiwanese technological manufacturers, such as Foxconn, Pegatron, Compal, and Wistron. These companies have established a solid foothold in Vietnam to diversify supply chains and minimize production risks.<\/p><p>Amid Washington and Beijing&#8217;s strategic rivalry, many Taiwanese companies have sought to secure their presence in Vietnam, particularly in strategic sectors like electronics and technology.
