On January 23 and 24, 2024, the Garden of Hope Foundation, the Anti-Human Trafficking Alliance Watch, and the European Values Center for Security Policy Taiwan Office held the EU-Taiwan Exchange Forum: Overcoming Isolation and Vulnerability, Taking Action to Safeguard Human Rights of Migrant Domestic Workers and Fishers with the support of the European Economic and Trade Office.<\/p>

The event featured the participation of leading European Union (EU) experts on migrant rights and commentary from their Taiwanese counterparts. During their visit, the EU experts engaged in exchanges and discussions with Taiwanese scholars, experts and officials on two issues: domestic migrant workers and foreign fishing workers.
Additionally, the organizers have arranged field visits to Yilan, Kaohsiung, and Pingtung on January 25-26, allowing the EU experts to gain a first-hand understanding of the living and working conditions of migrant domestic workers and fishers in Taiwan. This provided them with a more comprehensive understanding of the current situation. At the same time, experts from the EU and Taiwan further shared insights on how, through policy planning, we can continue encouraging families, employers, and businesses to develop action plans that benefit both parties in the ongoing support of domestic migrant workers and foreign fishing workers. The aim was to address the isolation and vulnerability of these workers, ensuring they receive full support and protection of their rights.
The seminars and the study visit were implemented under the PSF-2019-10947 EU-Taiwan Engagement Support Facility, which is funded by the European Union.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
