Since the local elections in October 2021, the crisis has been deepened. The appointment of the supreme judges and the setbacks in the judiciary and the rule of law disappointed Georgia&#8217;s Western partners. Furthermore, Mikheil Saakashvili, the former president of Georgia, and his arrival further increased already existing political polarization in the country.
