His competitor is Ji\u0159\u00ed Draho\u0161, former Head of the Academy of Sciences. Their views on the geopolitical direction of the Czech Republic are diametrically different.<\/strong><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Who is Milo\u0161 Zeman?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Milo\u0161 Zeman is a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.europeanvalues.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Activities-of-Czech-President-Milo%C5%A1-Zeman.pdf\">Kremlin\u00b4s Trojan Horse<\/a>\u00a0in the Czech Republic. He helps spread the Kremlin\u00b4s narratives <a href=\"https:\/\/www.intellinews.com\/zeman-s-crimea-fait-accompli-remarks-focus-minds-on-moscow-factor-in-czech-election-130504\/\">internationally<\/a> a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.novinky.cz\/domaci\/346926-na-ukrajine-je-obcanska-valka-ruska-invaze-by-vypadala-jinak-mini-zeman.html\">domestically<\/a>, and is present in the Russian information space as a supporter of Vladimir Putin\u00b4s regime, he supports confederates, <a href=\"https:\/\/zpravy.idnes.cz\/bylo-to-za-hranou-zeman-spolu-s-konvickou-zaskocil-ceske-ministry-10c-\/domaci.aspx?c=A151120_120004_domaci_kop\">extremists<\/a> and pro-Kremlin disinformers and he tries to sabotage the Czech government\u00b4s policy towards the Russian Federation. He continually denies Russian military presence in the separatist regions of Ukraine, he considers the annexation of Crimea to be a done deal and he has a strong disrespect for serious journalism.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>What is the connection between Milo\u0161 Zeman and Russia?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Zeman surrounds himself with advisers who are clearly linked to Russian business, using their positions to get to sensitive information (even without\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lidovky.cz\/mynar-proverku-mit-uz-letos-nebude-dug-\/zpravy-domov.aspx?c=A171013_102708_ln_domov_jho\">security clearances<\/a>) and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.respekt.cz\/politika\/co-resil-zemanuv-poradce-nejedly-v-moskve\">lobby<\/a>\u00a0for strategic contracts to be given to Russian firms, for example in the energy sector. The Russian company Lukoil\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/praguemonitor.com\/2016\/11\/07\/mfd-russian-lukoil-pays-huge-debt-zemans-key-aide-nejedl%C3%BD\">paid<\/a>\u00a0a fine for Zeman\u2019s economic aide, Mr. Nejedl\u00fd, when he sold jet fuel from strategic reserves. Nejedl\u00fd now works as a middle-man between the President and Russian interests, especially in the energy sector.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>What campaign does Milo\u0161 Zeman lead?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to his words, non. However, according to his transparent account, his allegedly non-existent campaign has received around 9 million CZK from the club Friends of Milo\u0161 Zeman, without fully disclosing how it collected the money. Between the 1<sup>st<\/sup>\u00a0and 2<sup>nd<\/sup>\u00a0round, the Czech Republic has been flooded with billboards suggesting Zeman can save the Czech Republic from the flood of (Syrian?) refugees.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>What relationship does Milo\u0161 Zeman have with the disinformation community?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Milo\u0161 Zeman is the most ardent sympathizer of the disinformation webpages, mostly with pro-Kremlin stances, which he considers trustworthy. His support goes hand in hand with his loud criticism of the Czech public broadcaster Czech Television (and other mainstream media) which he regularly accuses of being biased. He is also known for his negative attitude towards journalists and \u00a0critical media outlets. Consequently, a symbiosis developed between the president and the disinformation community in the last few years. The former legitimizes the latter, which in turn supports him during election campaigns.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>What are the main topics of the disinformation campaigns before the elections?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The main target of the disinformation campaign is the presidential candidate Ji\u0159\u00ed Draho\u0161, who has been accused of being a collaborator of the State Security of Czechoslovakia although he has a lustration certificate, but also of being in favour of immigration of Muslims and therefore allegedly inviting terrorists into our country or being the candidate of the \u201cglobalized elites\u201d or Brussels. Some disinformation webpages also claimed that Prof. Draho\u0161 works with German Chancellor Angela Merkel against the Czech nation and that if elected, he will push Czechs to adopt the euro and to place US troops on Czech territory.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>What is Zeman doing prior to the second round of the elections?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He is meeting with U.S. Congressman\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/zpravy.aktualne.cz\/domaci\/zeman-se-pred-volbami-setka-s-muzem-blizkym-kremlu-ktery-dos\/r~a3145af8fd0e11e7984d0cc47ab5f122\/?_ga=2.197365929.765141394.1516289265-1048721651.1479399367&amp;redirected=1516554981\">Dana Rohrabacher<\/a>.
